Come to My House....
Yes, I can finally retire my cookie sheets for the season. My last holiday baking project was completed on Christmas Eve, with some decorating by the boys on Christmas Day (including Grant's message and Owen's yard design). Projected demolition date--New Year's Day--and the boys can hardly wait. Until then, come join us for some seasonal glow from those butterscotch windows and a few more cookies from the buffet. I also made a batch of my mother's coconut macaroons, a simple recipe with coconut, condensed milk, vanilla and salt. Hope you're all eating fun things and enjoying this lazy in-between year-end week!

and i love cocos-macrons..did them too..like yours but also with some lemon peel and bitter-almond arome..
The butterscotch windows. Oooh, I remember this from last year. I am eating and drinking all kinds of fun things, Donna. It's rather self-indulgent really if I think about all those wonderful fun things I've been putting into my mouth this season. ;-)

Oo, that sounds like Joy Of Cooking Macaroons. They're great. Nice frozen!
I put things in the freezer to stop myself eating them... and then discover they're nice frozen...
Good point, Jo--I checked the Joy of Cooking recipe and it has an egg white, which might add a desirable hint of substance. My son complained it was just coconut globbed together! Hmm, freezing them might be a good idea because, believe it or not, I'm getting a bit tired of cookies, lol.
Surprising how good sweet things taste frozen, isn't it ;-)?
Lovely and beautiful! I love gingerbread. And macaroons. And I ate so many cookies while I was home the last week I find it, um, excessive, perhaps? But yummy too! I seriously think your influence made me more attuned to Christmas cookies this year, Donna. ;)
And yeah, heh, freezing the cookies did not work for me either. :) My mom put a bunch in the freezer over the weekend, and I just kept taking them out and eating them. The slight dulling of the flavor actually seemed to simply make me feel like I was eating fewer of them! Ugh. Manipulative tastebuds...

Thanks for stopping by, Emerald! Christmas cookies are indeed an art form and indulging for a week or so doesn't have lasting consequences. In fact, I think it is a natural reaction to the darkest days of the year, a sort of intensive fuel injection to get us through to the other side :-).
We just finished up all the cookies but the gingerbread last night. But I'm sure I'll be baking a batch or two of the ordinary treats by February!
