I’ve been having a very good time reading my contributor’s copy of Sudden Sex: 69 Sultry Short Stories edited by Alison Tyler and including favorite writers such as Jeremy Edwards, Vida Bailey, Heidi Champa and Jax Baynard. Erotica definitely lends itself to the shorter form. When I write erotic stories under 2000 words, I definitely find myself turning up the heat for a quick boil. But I still like to have all the ingredients for a good story ready to mix in for a satisfying result!
A number of authors have more than one story in the anthology, so it’s also been interesting to see how the two stories complement each other. Some, like Alison Tyler’s “Booked” and “Bookended,” which open and close the book, portray a promising meeting between a client and a bookstore employee, following by an even more promising first date. The wordplay and meta aspects are as much fun as the kinky sex!
My two stories in the book were lots of fun to write because the first, “Frank,” is the “she said” and the second, “Eva,” is the “he said” of a femsub relationship. Exploring the same scene from two different points of view, getting deep inside two different minds, is the kind of exciting writers love most. I’d like to whet your appetite with two sample views of the same moment. I didn’t want to give too much away, so if you find these tame, all I can say is get yourself a copy of Sudden Sex and read the stories!
From “Frank”:
I perched myself at the edge of the bed feeling very much on edge myself. Who knew what Frank would do tonight? I was suddenly aware of the warm slickness between my legs.
Frank could make me wet before he even touched me.
Just then he sauntered into the bedroom, an impressive erection already tenting his robe. I blushed and looked away.
He sat on the bed beside me. “You have something naughty to tell me, don’t you, Eva? I know that expression on your face.”
My cheeks flamed brighter.
“Are you going to confess or will I need to resort to firmer means?”
I felt another gush of arousal ooze down my thighs. “While I waited for you, I ....”
“Out with it.”
“I touch... touched myself.”
“Indeed? Do you think of me and masturbate when you’re at home, too?”
I nodded reluctantly.
Frank clicked his tongue. “Your poor bastard of a husband has no idea how depraved you are. You know you need to be disciplined for this?”
I nodded again, my heart now thumping against my ribs.
Calmly, deliberately, Frank arranged my body diagonally across the bed and tied my wrists to the bed poster with the belts of our robes....
From “Eva”:
Eva meets me at the door in the hotel bathrobe, bright-eyed and gorgeous. I swear I can smell her pussy, like fresh baked bread. I know that shaving for me arouses her, but something else is afoot. A secret. Almost as if she’s had a lover while I was gone.
My cock twitches.
I send her off to bed and go change into a robe myself. When I join her, Eva’s sitting on the edge of the bed studying the carpet and looking guilty as hell.
“You have something naughty to tell me, don’t you, Eva? I know that expression on your face.”
She stutters, but finally admits that she masturbated while she waited for me. My cock gets harder. I can just picture her in the bath, her cunt all dewy, that slim finger jiggling away in the folds.
I ask her if she fantasizes about me when she masturbates at home, behind the back of her poor unwitting husband.
She bites her lip and nods.
“You know you need to be disciplined for this?”
She catches her breath.
I smile. She’s handed me the perfect reason to tie her up—to keep those wandering fingers from doing more mischief. It’s always easier to push the limits when she “deserves” it. Still I pay close attention to her response as I bind her wrists to the bed post with the belts of our robes. This was new for us. So far, so good....

"Safe" Sex in Trouble and "The Naughty Chair"
It's the Friday before a much-needed holiday (two weeks is TOO long to go without a festive break), and the fun is beginning already. First Giselle Renarde reviews my story "The Naughty Chair" which appears in Alison Tyler's forthcoming The Big Book of Bondage. Let me say Giselle knows how to rub a writer in just the right way.
I've also posted a new column at ERWA, "The Trouble with 'Safe' Sex," which was inspired by an xoJane article on Lena Dunham's audacity is insisting an "imperfect" woman has the right to enjoy her sexuality. I argue that we seek the same "safety" in our depiction of sex as only existing between partners who meet our social standards of attractiveness. What do you think we're hiding from?

Football Lovers: A Woman’s Guide to Enjoying a Rough, Manly Sport
The pro football season is in full swing, so there’s no better
time to talk about the inspiration for “10 a.m. Kickoff,” my mid-morning
offering for the pleasures-round-the-clock anthology Morning, Noon and Night: Erotica for Couples,
edited by Alison Tyler.
I know there are women who’ve been raised on football and
love it for the sport alone, but I’ll confess I’m not one of them. I come from a family of three sisters, and
our preferred activities were dancing, ice skating, and tennis, cute outfits
required. On Sunday afternoons, my
father might occasionally sneak off to watch a football game on TV. Now and then I joined him. I always asked if he liked the white or dark
team better (we had a black-and-white TV way past the time most of my friends’
families had switched to color), and try as I might, I never quite figured out
how a first down worked.
I decided football was strictly for boys.
Then I met my future husband in the fall of 1985. He's from Chicago. Football fans will know that this was an
unforgettable, historic time for a Chicago Bears fan. He didn’t miss a game that season, although
of course, living in California, he watched it on TV (a tiny black-and-white
set he’d bought for $99 on a student budget). I didn’t miss
a game either, and I loved every minute of it.
Part of it was because he patiently explained all the basic and finer
points of the game to me as we watched.
Part of it was that I came to appreciate the human drama of each
player’s story. Amusingly, I felt a
special bond with coach Mike Ditka, who, like me, grew up near Pittsburgh, was
an English major and chewed gum when he was stressed out.
But I’ll be honest.
The real reason I came to enjoy football so very much is that the two of us watched
it as we lay in bed, skin to skin. This
excerpt from my story will give you a taste of how I became a football
fan. For couples who find themselves
drifting apart come autumn--the man glued to the TV, the woman hoping his
favorite team does not make the play-offs—well, why don’t you try our method
for making football a mutually pleasurable activity?
From “10 a.m. Kickoff” in Morning, Noon, and Night:
The announcer’s voice rose in
excitement. Alex’s body tensed
again. He let out a sigh of victory and
relaxed into the mattress. I used that
as an excuse to rock my hips forward, grinding my clit against his leg.
Alex glanced down at me with a faint
frown. He had to be aware how aroused I
was. I could feel my slickness as my
pussy skated up and down over his skin.
His hand crept toward me, and I thought, for
a stomach-churning moment, that he was going to push me away. Instead he brushed my nipple through my
nightshirt, then took the stiff tip between his fingers and tweaked it.
A jolt of electric pleasure shot straight to
my groin. I moaned aloud into his shoulder.
He laughed softly. Then let me languish there, unattended, while
he swore at the ref’s bad call.
How the hell was I going to keep his
attention on me instead of that damn game?
Desperate for an ally, I curled my fingers around his hard cock. It twitched in solidarity.
Alex looked down at me again, as if deciding
what to do. Then he did push me away,
rearranging our bodies so I was on my back and he was on his side. One hand slipped around my shoulders to
caress my breast, the other cupped my mons.
Caught in his embrace, I’d lost my power to control my own
stimulation. His cock, too, was safe
from the temptations of my wandering hands.
“You be a good girl until half time,” he
warned, his eyes still fixed on the TV screen.
I whimpered in protest, but could do little
but surrender to my fate.
Which wasn’t as bad as it seemed at
first. Alex didn’t ignore me
completely. He doled out bits of
pleasure between plays like single kernels of buttered popcorn. A palm circling over a nipple here, an idle
stroking of my slit there. Just enough
to get me arching up and breathing fast.
Gradually we established little rituals of celebration. A first down for his team earned my breasts a
few hot kisses. A touchdown won me a
spirited clit strumming that brought me almost to the verge—before his fingers
retreated to the remote to check the game on the other channel.
After a while, my lust hovered at a steady simmer even through the breaks. Yet each new ministration raised the temperature a few degrees until my flesh seemed to melt into a puddle of pussy juice beneath my ass.
At long last, half time arrived.....

The season of excitement and revels draws nigh, and for me the fun begins tomorrow with the inaugural stop on the blog tour for Morning, Noon and Night: Erotica for Couples, edited by Alison Tyler, one of erotica's greatest! The anthology takes you on an around-the-clock tour of erotic adventure, and you'll be inspired every step of the way. For example, my story, "10 a.m. Kickoff," shows that a mid-morning football game can be much sexier than you ever imagined. Follow the tour and tune in here on Saturday, November 17 for some hints on how to make football a sport to love for men and women alike!

Bound By Lust in a Magical Setting!
This is why I love being an erotica writer. This past Wednesday, on a lovely June evening, my husband and I scooted across the Bay Bridge in his vintage MR2, pulled into the garage at Mission and Fifth, and walked right into the Good Vibrations downtown store (very convenient if you're in Union Square and need to pick up a rabbit for the folks back home). There was something so magical about the setting--sleek, jewel-colored dildoes on the wall, a fabulous collection of erotic books, rhinestone, encrusted silk handcuffs--already I was transported to another world, where people can speak freely and supportively about sexual desire. That was, in fact, the reason I was here, to participate in a reading for the spanking-new BDSM romance anthology, Bound by Lust.
As I drew near the signing table, draped in a sparkly cloth that looked like a belly dancer's veil, I spotted the book's editor, Shanna Germain, looking every bit as lovely as she does in her film noir photos. I've always been a big fan of Shanna's stories, which are always beautiful, risky and super hot, so it was a real thrill to meet her in person. As the start time approached, the chairs were filled with the perfect San Francisco crowd. You could tell from their eyes they were smart and open-minded! Shanna began by reading Alison Tyler's lyrical foreword to the anthology--which starts off with a provocative quote by the most fun Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin: "Lust knows not where Necessity ends." Indeed.
I went next, reading the first two sections of my story "Spring Training." The male partner is a baseball fan and sets up a special workout for his girlfriend. References to the World Champion San Francisco Giants abound, and the audience was very appreciative. Indeed it was the perfect setting in which to read the story as there's also reference to shopping for dildoes. Then Shanna read from Sommer Marsden's intensely moving "Reclaiming Spring"--in keeping with the late spring theme of the evening.
Next came the Q & A, which can be a little unpredictable on occasion, but this group was great--lively, interested and supportive. We finished off with a signing on the sparkly tablecloth. The writing process can involve discouragement and struggle, but evenings like this, when I can connect with other writers I admire (erotica pioneer Thomas Roche was in the audience as well) and celebrate erotic storytelling, are what keep me going with a smile on my face--as you see in the photo above!

Alison's Wonderland and Magic in My Hands

The fireworks aren't over, folks, because today I'm being interviewed over at Alison Tyler's blog about my story in her hot new erotica anthology, Alison's Wonderland. My story, "Managers and Mermen," is inspired by "The Little Mermaid" of course, and it's guaranteed to have you craving sushi. Having read many of the delicious stories which provocatively rewrite classic tales from "Snow White" to "The Three Bill Goats Gruff," I can assure you this is a fairy tale book that will definitely keep you up past your bedtime!
So check out my tell-all interview, learn all about my "accessories" drawer, and leave a comment if you are so inspired.
Here's an excerpt from "Managers and Mermen":
“Pretty girl, do you want to go for a ride?”
Her liquid warble makes it sound like an invitation, but the glint in her green eyes tells me it’s really an order.
There will be consequences if I don’t obey.
And so I straddle her tail--at the widest part, where a human girl’s hips would be--and squeeze my thighs around her. It’s not so different from riding bareback, except her scales aren’t warm like horseflesh. They’re cool and slippery and they tickle my tender parts through the crotch of my swimsuit. I wriggle a bit, trying to get comfortable, but it only makes the tingling sensation more intense.
“Hold on tight,” she warns and immediately shoots off through the water. My upper body rocks like a broncobuster’s as we speed through the swaying seaweed. I have to grip her with all my might just to stay on. My legs are aching and I can feel the powerful muscles of her tail rippling between my thighs. Soon her once cool skin is plumped and warm, pulsing faintly. Or is it just me?
She swoops into a grotto and rears up to a stop. I fall forward and clutch her shoulders, panting. My veins sing with adrenaline.
In one swift movement, she twists around to face me. The slick twirl of her tail between my legs sends electric jolts through my body.
“Keep those pretty legs squeezed tight,” she says, her eyes boring into me. “You don’t want our ride to end yet, do you?”
I shake my head. What else can I do? She has me trapped in her lair, under her spell. I watch, enchanted, as she hooks her fingers under the kelp straps of her seashell bra and rips them away to expose her full breasts. Her skin is creamy, like a human girl’s, but the nipples are strange—a luminous jade green.
“Kiss them,” she commands, lifting her breasts in offering. Again, I have no choice. This is her realm, her laws.
I bend forward and take one shimmering nipple between my lips. The salty tang of nori fills my mouth. Suddenly I’m ravenously hungry. I tug on her, harder, as if I can satisfy the growing ache in my belly that way.
“That’s lovely, keep up the good work,” she sighs, but then her voice takes on a sterner tone.
“Except it’s not really work for you, is it? I can feel what’s going on down there. Your secret muscles are all fluttery and you’re wet inside, too. You like playing with another girl’s breasts, don’t you?”
Still suckling, I nod. I must always agree, always do her bidding. But it’s the truth, too. I do like it.
“You are a naughty girl, but you’re making me all fluttery, too.”
Indeed her tail is gyrating gently, pressing up against my clit, then circling away. I can tell from the way her eyes glow that she’s enjoying it.
What comes next takes me completely by surprise....

It's My Pleasure

Just wanted to let you all know that an excerpt from my "I Dream of Jeannie" story, "Yes, Master," appeared in Fleshbot's book club feature. This ode to genie power is part of a very spicy anthology edited by Alison Tyler, Pleasure Bound: True Bondage Stories. I'm really thrilled my story was chosen from so many excellent, spell-binding pieces. I probably have Barbara Eden's magic to thank for that!
Clearly I'm preparing for the Big Holiday tomorrow by venturing forth from my groundhog hole into blogland....

What Are Your TV Turn On's?
Summer is the season of bounty and it just so happens I have an exceptional harvest of erotica anthologies headed my way this month. The first sweet treat just arrived--my contributor's copies of Pleasure Bound: True Bondage Stories, edited by Alison Tyler, and including juicy stories by some of my favorite eroticists, Shanna Germain, Kristina Lloyd, Nikki Magennis, Sommer Marsden, and Kristina Wright, along with some very enticing newcomers.
I have a special fondness for my story in this anthology, "Yes, Master," which is inspired by the TV show "I Dream of Jeannie." It's not exactly about bondage in the handcuffs-and-tethers kind of way, but wasn't poor Jeannie bound to her master in a very provocative way? Although Barbara Eden was not allowed to show her belly button, I am positive the characters in this silly sit-com starred in many a very naughty scenario in the steamy fantasies of male and female viewers alike. What follows below is all true. And it makes me wonder--which TV shows sparked your erotic imagination? Come on, tell us your true story!
The opener from "Yes, Master":
My obsession with Major Anthony Nelson was probably the only thing that kept me going that summer. I’d scored a supposedly prestigious internship at the State Department (okay, in real life it was the IRS but they beat the State Department in offering me a job)—I dreamed of joining the Foreign Service in college—but my only apparent diplomatic function was to make copies and file documents. That and act as a sort of office decoration, because every time I turned around I caught my fifty-year-old supervisor, Mr. Lemon, staring at my ass.
A career in the civil service was quickly losing its appeal.
After the long, sweaty commute home, I was ready for some serious relaxation. So I went up to my room, stripped down to my underwear and switched on “I Dream of Jeannie” reruns until Mom called me downstairs for dinner. I’d do a little belly dance to the opening credits, then settle back on my bed to float along with the zany hi-jinks and comic misunderstandings. After a while, I wasn’t even really paying attention to the story. I was just giving old Major Nelson the eye and wondering what the hell was wrong with him. Didn’t he have a dick? Here he had this beautiful blonde female ready to do whatever he wished, and all he asked her to do was make dinner when he got home from astronaut training.
By the commercial break, I was still staring at the TV, but I was long lost in my own much hotter show about what those two would really do if Major Nelson had a functioning heterosexual libido. It was all pretty filthy. The Master was always in control, of course, and he’d tell her, “No more blinking and nodding, we’re doing this my way.” Then he’d take scissors and snip holes in her costume to expose her nipples and blonde thatch so he could caress her naughty parts as she served him dinner.
Next it was off to the bedroom where he’d make her dance and rub her breasts and finger her pussy right in front of him, while he asked her dirty questions—Is this making you wet, Jeannie? Have you been dreaming of fucking me all day when you were cooped up in your little bottle? And she’d have to say “Yes, Master,” because it was true. Sometimes he’d even make her masturbate with her bottle before he’d give her what she really wanted—his big, heat-seeking missile thrusting inside her. Once they were fucking he’d let her use her powers again to do it in all kinds of kinky genie-only positions. My favorite variation was the “magic carpet” where she’d be impaled on his cock, but levitated with her legs crossed in front of her. With a blink and a nod, she’d twirl round and round on him like a corkscrew until he shot his wad into her with a deep groan.
Of course, all the while I was doing everything the Master commanded, too, palming my tits and strumming my clit, then kneeling on my bed, as if I were straddling him, and wiggling my ass like an exotic dancer. I got so hot imagining his smoldering gaze stroking me like a wet tongue, his soft, but stern voice urging me on to greater depravities, that I came with a muffled groan of my own, just in time for Mom’s dulcet “Dinner’s ready” floating up from the kitchen.
Yes, Major Nelson--or rather my Major Nelson, the sexually insatiable dom--sure helped me get through a long, hot summer.
It turned out he was a tough act to follow....

Isabel Kerr and Beauty Under the Skin
Talk about synchronicity, the topic of beauty seems much on erotica writers' minds these past few days. Perhaps it's the baring of flesh that comes with summer? In any case, Alison Tyler, had some interesting things to say about beauty, nakedness and writing and mentioned a wonderful story by Isabel Kerr, called "Love at First Sight," about a man's discovery of what true beauty can do. I'm always so impressed when a writer crosses genders and does it well. Isabel does it, well, beautifully.
Another tale to satisfy body, mind and spirit!

Synchronicity: "Ten Minutes in the Eighties"
Synchronicity.
I first read about this magical confluence of apparent happenstance in Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, one of my favorite “creative process” books of all time (her other books don’t work as well for me, but this AW was a true gem for finding my creative confidence when I first started writing more than a decade ago). For Cameron, “synchronicity” is another word for answered prayers, a hint that the universe might be intelligent and responsive, especially to those who dare to create—but also, as we all know from Blogger, with spam words.
Anyway, I ran into a lovely bit of synchronicity the other day, just around the time I was contemplating the female beauty trap and the toll it takes on young women and also appreciating the eloquent comments my blog buddies had left on the topic. I happened to be glancing through my erotica collection and I pulled out The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica 4, the first volume of that anthology in which my work appeared. I was scanning the contents and noticed a story by Alison Tyler that I hadn’t yet read: “Ten Minutes in the Eighties.”
Not only is this story a masterpiece in its own right—perfect prose, wickedly funny and very hot—but it expresses so much of what I was talking about in a poignant and powerful fictional package. When I finished the story, my jaw was hanging open. It captured so much about the female experience in our culture. The setting is LA, the fantasy factory of the nation, and just the thing for elevating one woman’s experience to the universal.
Here’s the brilliant first line that immediately enthralled me:
“For 10 minutes in the ’80s, I was beautiful.”
And, believe me, it just gets better from there. So go read Alison’s story in the Good Vibrations Archives. It’s pure gold.

Friday is for a Fezziwig Fetish!
Hey, it's a good day! Not only is Herr Doktor coming home from yet another business trip today, but I discovered a nice surprise when I popped over to Alison Tyler's blog for my Friday morning fetish fix.
I'm the fetish fix! With an excerpt from my story, "Fezziwig's Balls," which was published in Naughty or Nice: Christmas Erotica Stories, edited by Alison. This anthology also has one of my all-time favorite sexy Christmas stories, "The Queen of Christmas," by Andrea Dale, as perfect a blend of sex and humor as rum-spiked eggnog.
What an F-ing good time all around!
And yes, corsets are a very sexy addition to the play wardrobe. I might just have to get mine out this weekend to celebrate!

And yes, corsets are a very sexy addition to the play wardrobe. I might just have to get mine out this weekend to celebrate!

Happy Birthday, Alison Tyler!
Happy Birthday, Alison! It’s hard to think of the right gift to give a woman who has everything, or will once all your smut-writing well-wishers in this world-wide blog birthday have presented their imaginative offerings. But I did want to express my appreciation for all you do for erotica and erotica authors--as a fabulously hot writer, a courteous editor and a friggin' fun blogger--with a little food, a little sex and a little sampling of things Japanese.

Although I like to write a dirty tale now and then and certainly hope my work is “effective,” out there in the so-called real world, my favorite way to reduce people to wobbly-kneed, salivating love slaves is with my cookies. In honor of your birthday, I’d like to present you with a whole box of my signature treats—pecan pie cookies, vanilla spoon cookies sandwiched with raspberry jam, three-layered, almond cake Venetians glazed with chocolate, and spicy Dutch almond cookies with marzipan filling. Feel free to eat more than one--it's your birthday!
While you’re sampling the birthday sweets, I’d also like to offer my services in the single area of my life where I show a talent for organization. That is, of course, my impressively neat sex toy draw. Not only is everything tidy and properly folded, but—this may not be immediately obvious--the items are catalogued and arranged in alphabetical order, from anal beads to XXX-rated vintage porn (this isn’t true, but it sounds good, doesn’t it?).
As my special birthday gift, I’d be happy to transform your drawer...

...into mine...
...slipping in a Hello Kitty thong and a few secret Japanese potions (introduced to me by Neve Black), while you are otherwise occupied with the next adventure….
Finally, I believe birthdays are a time for a special trip away from the ordinary, so I’m enclosing two plane tickets to Japan, where you and Sam can spend the weekend at my favorite hot spring inn, called Chojukan, in the mountains of Gunma prefecture. The inn’s nineteenth-century grand bath allows men and women to soak together in the old custom, a rarity in Japan today. After midnight, adventurous couples have been known to do other things, too!
In between luxurious baths, you’ll be served luxurious feasts like the one pictured above--sure to satisfy any hankering for sushi. Don’t forget to save room for a few cookies for dessert.
Otanjobi omedeto! (bowing my wishes for a very Happy Birthday to you)!

Tipping the Chambermaid
Wow, look at this suite! Dirty glasses and plates all over. Tortilla chip crumbs and egg salad stains on the carpet. The bed--a mess, but I won't point fingers. No wonder the maid is reprimanding us and reaching for her feather duster. Yes, it's time to let the chambermaids take over for this last installment of our hot-el sex party in celebration of Do Not Disturb: Hotel Sex Stories, edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel.
The first chambermaid story I highly recommend is Andrew Wilson's "The Afternoon of a Venetian Chambermaid" in Maxim Jakubowski's Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica, volume 2. I believe I first read this story in Libido or it may have been Scarlet Letters, back when I was a barely published writer, but it's really stayed with me. In spare, but evocative prose, Wilson helps us don a maid's uniform for an intimate tour of Hotel Giorgione as we handle the semen-scented sheets and wiggle our way to a pick-me-up orgasm over a bidet. It's voyeurism at its best and took me right back to the strange and gorgeous decay of modern Venice.
For a more modern taste of the chambermaid with other things on her mind, check out Alison Tyler's "Tightly Tucked," a funny and very sexy story in Do Not Disturb--definitely one of my favorites! Will you recognize yourself in Elian, the hedonist who "uses" hotels in every way he can think of? Or Sophie, who is too busy tsking at the poor maid service to do the naughty things the characters are doing in all the other stories in the anthology? Or maybe you relate to the fair Bella, a chambermaid who shares my bad habit of falling into sailors' dialect a little too easily?
I'll admit I see a little of all three in myself. In the spirit of Elian, I lift all the replaceable hotel swag and gobble up any complimentary fruit baskets or mints on the pillow and love throwing towels on the floor. Like Bella, I swear like a Navy Seal and have freckles. And I also clean up after myself, not as much as Sophie, but I sometimes wonder if the maids tsk at my light footprint, my presence nothing more than a slightly rumpled bed and a dirty novel on the nightstand. Having worked as a "maid" in high school, I don't want someone else to have such an intimate look into my life as I did into theirs--and yes, it's been material for stories. I also do it because some of those maids will re-arrange my stuff, and that creeps me out, too, having someone organize my toiletries in some apparently more proper way.
Bella in Alison Tyler's story would never fuck with my stuff--but that's only one of the reasons I like her. In fact, this party was named in her honor ;-).
Tomorrow--final credits and a big thank you to all who shared wonderful stories and left brilliant comments here at the party in Suite 69. Oh, and help yourself to the pens and notepads. They're on the house!

Amorous Notes
Mmm, thank you, Craig, for ordering in the frosty cold mugs of Paulaner and trays of sizzling wursts to satisfy the appetites your excerpt aroused in all of us. Like Aimee, I think we're all wanting more, more, more!Just a quick announcement for those of you who'd like to take a peek at my earliest notes for my novel, Amorous Woman, which are posted over at Alison Tyler's blog, Trollop with a Laptop. Those notes make me blush, maybe even more so than the picture of my butt which debuted on her blog, and for a different reason. Why don't you pop over and guess why?
And if you haven't bought yourself a copy of Amorous Woman yet, Alison has the PERFECT incentive for all amorously-inclined readers. Thank you, AT! (I'll be offering a teasing tidbit from Alison's story in Do Not Disturb: Hotel Sex Stories a wee bit later....)

Alison Tyler and My Kinky Collection

Alison Tyler, the Trollop with a Laptop, is one of the very coolest (and hottest) writers and editors in the erotica universe and it was a big thrill for me to have a picture of my panties appear on her blog post a few months back.
Now she's letting the world see another revealing side of me, my book collection about Japan's Floating World. These books have been the inspiration for many steamy scenes in my stories--although I'd have to admit good old-fashioned memories play a big role, too. But if you'd like to take a peek inside a corner of my dirty little mind, check it out here and please leave a comment, if you're so inspired!

See Me in My Undies!
I don't know what's gotten into me recently. Maybe it's the heady thrill of having my novel available in the US? Whatever the reason, I seem compelled to flash pictures of my butt all over the Internet. Tasteful pictures, I hope, but still....
As soon as I got finished posting the hidden seven-eighths of my author photo, featuring what EllaRegina dubbed my "superior posterior," Ms. Alison Tyler, editor and erotica writer extraordinaire, asked me if I'd be up for posting a pic of my undies as part of the Panty Parade on her blog. How could I say no to that?
So I enlisted the aid of my favorite research assistant, aka my husband, and we snapped some photos. First we took a few of my "research drawer" which holds items you might recognize from my stories. It is very neat, but I tend to be methodical in my work. (My house is another matter altogether). Then I put on a favorite pair of leopard print undies from Victoria's Secret and did my impression of a Modigliani model--thanks, Alison, for that very kind comparison.
Come on, admit it, you're curious right? Satisfy that urge right here!

Who’s Superstitious?
Well, I am. Just a little. I always start a new story as a “save as” file of a story that did well, for example. And maybe it’s a writer’s thing—magical thinking would be, right?--because Alison Tyler admits she’s superstitious, too.
One of my superstitions is that I don’t talk publicly about a story acceptance until I hold the published book in my hands. (A novel is different because you have to promote it starting like years before you write it--honest!) Now, given the vicissitudes of publishing, this is probably more just a matter of prudence. Alison told me she’s the same way and she mentioned something about lots of rejections and as she says in her blog I did in fact write back: “Rejected? You?”
I mean come on, what crazy loon would pass up the chance to publish an Alison Tyler story? She’s like the Goddess of Erotica!
But, of course, rejection is part of this business, so much a part of it. I stopped counting but I know I’ve piled up hundreds of rejections (some nice, most impersonal, a few quite gratuitously nasty and I haven't forgotten you, you jerks, yes, some day you'll be sorry!) and for stories that later went on to fame. It all has to do with taste and editorial needs and other factors beyond our control. I guess there is a part of me that likes to fantasize that some writers never face rejection or they work their way up the ladder to a shining and glorious land of eternal acceptance. Rather like those erotica stories where complete strangers have sex and they're so perfect together, they come ten times in two minutes.
But Alison’s acknowledgment that even she gets a “no” now and then reminded me that rejections are also a badge of courage. We take the risk of baring our soul on the page, sending our masterpieces out into the world and subjecting them to the callous scrutiny of all-too practical publishers, agents, editors. And often enough the bastards say “no.” But we keep on with our work anyway. If that’s not courage, I don’t know what else is!

Cleis' Naughty Spelling Contest
They say readers love contests and give-aways. Well, Cleis Press has come up with a good one for this Valentine's Day--a creative spelling contest. You make up a word or words based on the covers for the twelve existing volumes in the fabulous "Erotic Alphabet" series of anthologies edited by Alison Tyler. To enter, you have to line up the covers to spell a word, take a picture, and send that in, for which you'll win volumes A-L.
I'm in "E is for Exotic," "I is for Indecent" and "K is for Kinky." Let's see K-I-E? E-K-I? That means "train station" in Japanese--very sexy places, train stations.... I-K-E? Eisenhower was pretty sexy or at least Kay Summersby thought so. Hmm, I may have to do a little book shopping to win big here.
I'm looking forward to the poster of all 26 letters myself!
