Naked for Halloween

Yes, that's the name of my latest ERWA column, and in the spirit of writerly revelation, I thought I'd post one of my boudoir photos from a while back as illustration. I'm happy to say I'm back at work on the novel, discovering all kinds of sexy things about myself, my story, my yoga teachers.... Not to mention October is one of my favorite months with Herr Doktor's birthday opening the harvest festivities and my favorite holiday, Halloween, closing up the month with its dark magic. It's the perfect season to cook up some of my barley, butternut squash and black bean casserole, too, with, of course, a mini Snickers bar you've snitched from your kid's plastic pumpkin for dessert. (My kids don't like Snickers so I'm not being an evil mom, honest).

I'm not sure if I'll really do the naked trick-or-treating thing this year--although come on, isn't it a wonderfully symbolic act for an erotica writer?--but I've been assembling some naughty alternate costumes that should serve just as well!

What are you going to be for Halloween?

Great column! I especially loved the revelation vis-a-vis the younger vs. older yoga teacher as it informed the dynamic in your novel.

I also loved this:

I’ve never written an erotic story that is 100% autobiographical—120% is the most I’ve managed

LOL!

ah..whats that thing about yoga teachers? and vegetarians? and..buddhists?...sigh*...i m always worried that such things turn me on:-)

Hey Jeremy, thanks for reading! Yes, hyper-realism is one of the pitfalls of memoir ;-). And Danielle, yoga teachers and vegetarians and Buddhists are very, very sexy, believe me. I even wrote a Valentine's Day story about a vegan, and oh the dinner he served. Made her feel like she was floating in liquid sunshine....

Excellent!

Once again it seems where traveling along parallel paths. I so understand the feeling of intimacy that can come with writing an erotic story. And I also strongly relate to how things going on around us can feed our fiction.

Oh, and you gotta do the writer costume!

Verification word: uptimmyc

I'll leave it to your imagination.

Hmm, yes, clearly that spamword has to do with something obscene involving some guy named "Timmy," lol. Nice to have company on the journey, Craig. While often hard, the discoveries and panoramas and other hard-won lessons can't be found sitting around watching TV.!

"[A]crobatic dazzle"—I love that.

What a cool column. I also happen to be working on a story right now that seems deeply related to my own fantasies, the sharing of which has seemed to evoke my feeling noticeably naked indeed....

Thanks for sharing this. And I laughed at the same thing Jeremy did too! :)

So interesting you're going through the same thing with a story, too, Emerald. I do find it more satisfying when I'm telling the truth in my fiction, and I think the reader can sense this!

Is the Valentine's Day story with a vegan in it available anywhere?

Hey Shar,

It's now available in an Xcite ebook called "The Butler Did It" available on their site or through All Romance E-books. I just think vegan men are very sexy ;-).
